It all began ....

Chloe and I first met on September 22nd, 2022, through a very close mutual friend. Despite this early connection, we didn’t start dating until two years later. Interestingly, we both share Chiu Chow heritage (our ancestral hometown), and by chance, our fathers knew each other—something we only discovered after dating. The timing feels perfect because once we began truly getting to know each other, we realized how much we had in common and how naturally we understood each other. Often, we even finish each other’s sentences. Our shared experiences, especially through traveling together, have deepened our connection and allowed us to discover even more about one another.

On August 16, 2025, I took Chloe to Beas River for a delightful lunch and relaxation, disguising it as a birthday weekend outing. We left home at 10 a.m., while my staff secretly prepared for a big proposal, filling our house with Chloe’s favorite flowers and a gallery of our travel photos. After lunch, we visited the M+ Museum’s latest exhibitions. Chloe grew suspicious but was slightly disappointed when nothing happened—yet. At 5 p.m., we returned home to a transformed house, with a “Marry Me” sign on the sofa and “Our Last Summer” from Mamma Mia playing softly. I recounted our love story, dropped to one knee, and proposed. After some shock, Chloe said yes! Our parents, hiding at home, emerged to give their blessings. I then pretended to FaceTime Chloe’s sister, Kody, in New York, but Kody surprised Chloe by appearing in person, sparking happy tears.

To top off the perfect day, we all went to a lovely Chinese restaurant together with our parents and Kody—Chloe thinking we were there to celebrate my birthday. But when we arrived, Chloe was surprised once again as her friends showed up to celebrate our engagement. It was truly a day full of joy, surprises, and unforgettable memories!
